Amethon building mobile analytics powerhouse with the launch of Portal Analytics

Local mobile developer Amethon Solutions acquires the assets of web analytics firm, Aimstats, and launches new mobile analytics solution, Portal Analytics  

Sydney, 24 May 2007: Australian mobile messaging and applications developer, Amethon Solutions today announced the acquisition of the intellectual property assets of web analytics company, Aimstats Pty Ltd, and the associated launch of its Portal Analytics solution.

Amethon, based in Sydney and Melbourne, is rapidly becoming the global leader in mobile analytics with its Content Fingerprinting solution that allows mobile operators to analyse, track and monetise peer to peer mobile content. Aimstats’ flagship service is AimHost, a leading web analytics solution, which supports over 10,000 domains within Blue Central (part of the Blue Freeway group of companies).  The acquisition involved the transfer of intellectual property and key technology employees.

Under the agreement, Aimstats will license back the technology and continue to support its existing customers as well as market its AimHost and AimEnterprise solutions to the web hosting and enterprise markets.   Amethon has leveraged its mobile network expertise to further develop the Aimstats intellectual property for the mobile domain and has rebranded it as “Portal Analytics” - the world’s first web analytics solution optimised for mobile operator portals and mobile internet sites. 
 
The mobile web is becoming increasingly important as mobile operators focus on offering non-voice services and as media companies and brands establish their mobile presence to provide information and services to consumers on the go. As with online, measurement and tracking of traffic on mobile web sites is vital to both optimise the end user experience and monetise page space through advertising. Amethon CEO Michael Stone said, “We recognised the Aimstats intellectual property as being ideally suited to the mobile domain. With our Portal Analytics product we are now in a position to offer a solution to mobile carriers and major media companies that will analyse and therefore commercialise browsing activity across both web and mobile portals.” 
 
Portal Analytics uses ‘packet sniffing’ technology which is more suited to analysing mobile internet browsing compared with traditional methodologies such as page tagging or log file analysis.  

Optimisation of the Portal Analytics solution for mobile browsing has been accelerated through a collaboration with local mobile development company, TigerSpike. TigerSpike Chief Operating Office Oliver Palmer, said, “The Portal Analytics solution has provided TigerSpike with world class reporting tools, giving site owners who take advantage of TigerSpike’s mobile publishing platform (Phoenix) the ability to report on a variety of metrics and understand how their customers are using mobile sites.”
