Sydney, 1 November 2006: Australian mobile messaging and applications developer, Amethon Solutions today announced the appointment of Michael Stone as Chief Executive Officer.

Michael joins the Amethon Solutions team from Ericsson where he was involved in mobile telecommunications sales and marketing since the early days of GSM. In this time he has been part of an industry evolution from simple voice through SMS, WAP, GPRS and now 3G.

As part of Ericsson’s 3G marketing team in the late ‘90s he was instrumental in conveying a 3G vision to both the mobile operator community and the broader IT&T industry that is now being realised. This led to a critical involvement in Ericsson’s successful bid for Hutchison Australia’s 3G network business followed by a Sales Management role in the Vodafone account team. His most recent responsibility was as General Manager for Ericsson’s Advise Services Unit where he managed the consulting, design and education business areas.

“I am delighted that Michael has joined the Amethon team and confident that his successful track record in building markets for new products and his detailed understanding of the needs of mobile operators will prove to be an immense asset for Amethon Solutions,” said Roger Smeed, Chairman of Amethon Solutions. “Amethon is a specialist in applications to leverage and monetise mobile-based Peer to Peer content and mobile-based security applications for the mobile content delivery value chain relevant for mobile carriers, content owners and publishers, and brands in local and international markets. Michael’s experience and drive are a clear fit for Amethon Solutions, and we welcome him as the leader of the team.”

“It is great to be joining a company that is paving the way for new and exciting business models in what is already an incredibly dynamic industry”, stated Michael Stone. “The mobile industry is seeing a convergence of marketing, user generated content and social networking, and Amethon’s Content Fingerprinting technology is uniquely positioned to help operators understand and monetise these trends.”

Michael holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Canberra and an MBA from RMIT University.
